Welcome to Square Books ("Company", "we", "our", or "us"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our website located at https://www.thesquarebooks.com/ and https://start.thesquarebooks.com (the "Service"). By accessing or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our Service.

1. Nature of Services / No Advice

Square Books provides bookkeeping, accounting, payroll support, advisory, and consulting services. We do not provide tax preparation or tax filing services unless explicitly stated in a separate written agreement.

All website content is for informational purposes only and does not constitute professional accounting, financial, or legal advice.

Any references to U.S. tax matters are general in nature and are not intended to be used for avoiding penalties under U.S. federal tax law.

2. No Client Relationship

Use of this website does not create an accountant-client relationship. A formal written engagement agreement is required.

3. Discovery Calls and Financial Assessments

Submitting a form or survey does not guarantee a call. A Discovery Call is a conversation to learn about your business and to see whether our services may be a fit. It is without obligation.

If it is a fit, we may offer a Financial Assessment. The Financial Assessment is a paid service, provided under a written agreement we both accept, at the fee we quote you in writing before you agree. You keep the assessment whether or not you hire us. If you sign an engagement agreement with us for ongoing services, the assessment fee is credited toward your first month's fee.

4. Text Message Program Terms

  • Program description: Square Books sends booking confirmations, appointment reminders, rescheduling updates and customer support messages to people who have booked a Discovery Call or appointment through our website or scheduling forms and have agreed to receive text messages. Consent is collected through a dedicated, unticked checkbox on our web forms. Agreeing is not a condition of buying anything.
  • Sender: Messages come from (413) 772-5533.
  • Message frequency: Varies with your booking and your questions.
  • Rates: Message and data rates may apply. For questions about your plan, contact your wireless provider.
  • Opt out: Text STOP to the same number at any time. We will confirm by text, and you will receive no more messages unless you sign up again.
  • Help: Reply HELP, email office@thesquarebooks.com, or call (413) 772-5533 during business hours.
  • Carriers: Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Our program works with all major U.S. wireless carriers.
  • Age: You must be 18 or older to take part.
  • Privacy: See Section 9 of our Privacy Policy at https://www.thesquarebooks.com/privacy-policy.

We follow applicable laws and guidelines, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and CTIA guidelines.

5. Use of the Service

You agree to lawful use only and not to:

  • Violate laws
  • Submit false information
  • Attempt unauthorized access
  • Disrupt operations

6. Accuracy of Information

We do not guarantee that content is accurate, complete, or current. Use is at your own risk.

7. Intellectual Property

All content is owned by Square Books and protected under U.S. law.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

This website is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Square Books shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages. Our total liability shall not exceed $100 USD or the amount paid (if any) for services giving rise to the claim.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Square Books from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

11. Third-Party Links

We are not responsible for third-party websites. Use them at your own risk.

12. Termination

We may terminate or restrict access at any time.

13. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Hampshire. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New Hampshire.

14. Dispute Resolution

At our discretion, disputes may be resolved through binding arbitration. You waive the right to participate in class actions or jury trials where permitted by law.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. Changes will be posted with an updated date.
